Event description
Get inspired to grow and harvest from your own garden this winter at Dr Compost's free Winter Veggies workshop

About this Event

Find out how to get the best out of your winter garden at Dr Compost’s free Winter Veggies workshop.

Zero food miles, zero plastics, tonnes of taste - harvest yummy, fresh veggies straight from your garden this winter. From hardy salad greens to silverbeet and leeks, learn what crops grow well in our region, and when to plant them. Find out how to deal with our harsh climate by using cloches and existing microclimates.

Dr Compost, aka Ben Elms, has been gardening and composting locally for over 20 years. He’ll share his knowledge and answer all your questions in this entertaining workshop.

Whether you need a few tips to get more out of your garden or you’re a total novice keen to give gardening a go, you'll leave inspired to get growing.

Don't forget to register for your free online ticket as the Dr Compost workshops are very popular and we have limited space at this venue.

The Dr Compost home-composting project is funded by Queenstown Lakes District Council and delivered by Wastebusters to reduce organic waste in landfill. When food scraps and greenwaste breaks down in the landfill, it releases methane, a harmful climate change gas.
