Characters + Colloquy: Toby Morris + Mark Easterbook

About Toby:

Toby is an award winning comic artist, illustrator and writer based in Auckland. He is best known for his non-fiction comics including Te Tiriti O Waitangi and his regular online series The Side Eye. He has written and drawn three graphic novels and two picture books and well as illustrating stories for the School Journal. As an illustrator he has drawn for brands like L&P, Edmonds, Nike and Allbirds and he has won the award for Best Artwork at the New Zealand media awards for the last three years in a row.

About Mark:

Mark is a freelance writer and creative director who works across the advertising and design industries. Also the the Artistic Director of the Going West Writers Festival and a charity trustee, Mark has built his career on synchronicity and serendipity, making unexpected connections and joining the dots between ideas and between people. Unlike many in the commercial creative world, Mark doesn’t have a trophy cabinet full of awards and has never been that interested in them. He likes to focus on process and relationships as much as on creative outcomes. In particular, he has a growing interest in how ways of working can be as impactful as what we work on.
