Description

Word Café Raglan 2017 is an extravaganza of the written and spoken word. We’ve got poets, story-tellers, activists, explorers, best-selling novelists and inspired novices – all coming together in the celebration of words and books.

We hope you join us, and if you feel inspired you can get involved, too. We’ve got workshops, discussions, writing competitions, book sales and an open mic night.

Ticketed events

~ Weekend Pass Word Café Raglan 2017 – $100 (allows entry to all 10+ ticketed sessions except the Sunday morning Workshop)

~ Door sales to individual sessions – $20 per session

~ Word Cafe Evening Extravanganza with Karyn Hay and Tracey Slaughter – $25

~ Workshop - Sit down and write workshop with Jacquie McRae (Sunday 2 July, 9-11am) – $25 (limited to 30 participants)

~ Friday 30 June, 7pm onwards – Welcome to Word Café Raglan 2017, followed by Spoken Poetry Showcase

~ Saturday 1 July, 9:30pm onwards – Open mic night

~ Sunday 2 July, 1:30pm onwards – Book launch, All Her Dark Pretty Thoughts by Wanda Barker, followed by awards and readings from the Word Café Raglan writing competition and closing karakia.

FAQs

Can I bring my children?

Children are welcome with their caregiving adult. There may be offensive language used in the Spoken Poetry Showcase on Friday night or during the Open Mic on Saturday at 9.30pm, but all events are all ages.

Is there a concession price?

Yes there is concession price of $15 instead of $20 for door sales, There is no concession price on the weekend pass.

What are the entry fees for the writing competition?

For adults, there is no entry fee if you have buy a weekend pass, There is no entry fee for children. See the website for the rules of the competition.
