A job interview is a two-way conversation between you and the employer. You want to get the job and the employer wants to find out if you have the skills and personality they are looking for. The job description has clues to help you anticipate many of the questions you will be asked, so that you can practise your answers before the interview and get used to talking about yourself.
What’s in it for you? Come along and find out!
This workshop will help you to get ready for an interview, so that you know what to expect, and you know what the employer is looking for. There will be examples of common interview questions, and tips on what to do before, during and after the interview. You can find out how to tell an interesting story that demonstrates your skills and experience.
Jean Ottley is an experienced careers advisor who has worked with jobseekers in all stages of their careers. She has worked on campus with students and is currently part of a team that delivers Work Connect, a programme that helps newcomers to Aotearoa New Zealand to get work-ready, including international students.
