About this event

AoteaOra Trust in partnership with the Great Barrier Local Board are undertaking a project to set up a tool that will track the island’s ‘ecological footprint’ – the impact that our activity and our uniquely offgrid lifestyle has on our environment.

In this workshop, the leaders of the project including Dr Ella Lawton who has been involved in ecological footprinting across different regions around the country, will host a discussion to:

• Share the initial results of Aotea’s ecological footprint and how that compares to footprints from other regions and countries

• Discuss ideas on how this tool could be used to celebrate our successes

• Explore ways we can use this tool to prioritise future activities that work to reduce our footprint – at a personal, household, business, community and island level.

• Discuss ways that we could engage visitors in our ‘footprint work’
