What is Eventbrite's policy on non-events?

An event is a physical or virtual planned occurrence with date(s), time(s), and place(s). It must use Eventbrite to offer valid free or paid registrations or tickets. Event listings that don’t fit this description are considered non-events and are in violation of our Terms of Service. If you encounter a non-event, visit the event listing on a desktop and use the “Report this event” tool in the footer to report it.

    A non-event is an event listing that offers free or paid tickets for goods or services that aren't related to an actual event occurrence (e.g., only collecting membership dues or only selling merchandise). Non-events violate our Terms of Service, and any accounts listing such events are subject to review by our Trust and Safety Team.

    The following are examples of non-events:

    • Membership dues

    • Account fees

    • Merchandise sales

    • Gambling/Gaming

    • Lotteries, raffles, contests, and sweepstakes

    • Reselling

    • Gift Cards/Certificates

    • Donation-only (not tied to or related to an event set to take place)

    Events that sell merchandise or collect membership dues while also selling tickets to a valid physical or virtual event are not in violation of our non-events policy and Terms of Service.
