Create a new Facebook Ad account

Businesses usually create new Facebook Ad accounts for one of two reasons: they're beginning a new business venture or they want to use separate payment methods for different campaigns. However, this could also be necessary if you'd like to have a backup ad account for safekeeping.

In this article

  • Create a Business Manager account
  • Assign People and Roles to your Ad account
  • Add a payment method for your Ad account
  • Link an Ad account to Business Manager

Create a Business Manager account

Having a Business Manager account is required to create a new Facebook Ad account beyond your personal ad account.

To create a Business Manager account:

  1. Go to the Ad Accounts tab of "Business Settings".

  2. Select the Add button to prompt the new account creation flow.

  3. Enter the ad account name, time zone, and currency information.

Assign People and Roles to your Ad account

Only people assigned to the ad account can use it. This includes you, too.

To assign people to the Ad account:

  1. Go to the Ad Accounts tab of "Business Settings".

  2. Select the Add People to prompt the people-and-roles assignment flow.

  3. Choose the person or people you'd like to add.

  4. Choose their roles (access level they receive).

TIP: We recommend choosing Admin Access by checking the toggle next to Manage Ad Account.

Add a payment method for your Ad account

To add a payment method, follow the steps in this article from the Facebook Business Help Center.

Link an Ad account to Business Manager

In order to get the most powerful audience types for your campaign's targeting, you'll have to link your Facebook Ad account to a Business Manager account. This process is essential to help you get the most out of Eventbrite Marketing Tools.

NOTE: Facebook may require you to add your Ad account by entering the Ad Account ID instead of automatically moving the ad account.

After creating your Business Manager account:

  1. Copy your Ad Account ID.

  2. Go to the "Ad Accounts" section (under Business Manager Settings).

  3. Paste the Ad Account ID of the ad account you want to move.

  4. Select Add Ad Account.

NOTE: If other individuals use the Ad account you moved into a Business Manager account, make sure to give them account access via your Business Manager "People" settings.

If you can't add an Ad account to Business Manager:

  • The Ad account you're trying to add may have already been added by another business. An Ad account can only be owned by one Business Manager. Instead, you can request access to the Ad account.

  • You have already added a personal Ad account to Business Manager. You can only add one ad account from your personal Facebook account to Business Manager. Instead, you can create a new Ad account in Business Manager or you can request access to another Ad account.

  • You haven't spent on the Ad account currently in your Business Manager. In order to have more than 1 Ad account in Business Manager, you'll need to spend a bit on the initial one before you can move or create another.

  • You've reached the 5 Ad account limit for adding new Ad accounts to your Business Manager. There's currently no available option to request additional Ad accounts. Your Ad account limit increases based on your advertising spend.
