Emanuel Barica

Emanuel Barica is a multidisciplinary artist and performer known for his emotionally charged ballpoint pen portraits and live art performances that challenge systems of power, identity, and displacement. Born in Romania and based in Berlin, his work is rooted in his lived experience as a Roma person and survivor of systemic trauma. Emanuel has been featured in The New York Times, was a Golden Buzzer finalist on Romania’s Got Talent, and has exhibited across Europe—including Paris, Kraków, Berlin, Leipzig, and Mannheim.

His performances are raw, unscripted acts of artistic resistance, and his exhibitions blend personal history with social commentary. Emanuel uses ink, pen, charcoal, and found materials to tell stories that are often overlooked—transforming pain into beauty and silence into voice.
