Professor Luis Salvador-Carulla is the Director of the Mental Health Policy Unit (MHPU) and Deputy Director of the Health Research Institute at the University of Canberra.
A globally recognized leader in mental health systems research, he has advised the World Health Organization, European Commission, and Spanish Ministry of Health on policy and service reform. His work focuses on evidence-informed decision-making, service mapping, and integrated care models.
Under his leadership, the MHPU has developed and led several innovative projects aimed at improving mental and cognitive health care:
MChart: A Local Navigation Tool for Mental Health Care, piloted in the ACT to support planners and providers.
EMPOWER: An eHealth platform for workplace mental health, awarded the 2023 Malaspina Award.
