Mark Naismith-Beeley
Born and raised amidst the rugged landscapes of Scotland’s East coast, Mark developed an early appreciation for the interplay of light, colour, and form. Inspired by the Impressionists' ability to capture fleeting moments and atmospheric nuances, Mark considers every painting a navigation to an unknown place; a journey to explore the harmonious coexistence of traditional techniques and contemporary expression.
Mark employs expressive brushwork, vibrant colour palettes, and the play of light to create an ethereal ambiance, capturing the essence of a specific moment in time and inviting viewers to share in the power of painting so they can figuratively (and often literally!) press pause on a world of stress streamed constantly into our brains via tiny screens. Working mainly in oil, Mark’s journey through the creative process is part methodical and part instinctive; a meditative journey that embraces uncertainty and willingly sacrifices determinism for vulnerability. In a world so often viewed through the detachment of personal screens and increasingly disconnected from the natural realm, Mark’s art seeks to be a reminder to press pause, look up and see the enduring beauty and harmony found within our surroundings.
