Abi Finnegan
I am a Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor, and Trainer, working both in the UK and internationally. I have a lifelong passion for understanding ways of healing and transformation and I am particularly interested in, and experienced in, mind-body approaches to working with the impact of traumatic experiences.
I first began my journey into this world in 1991 wanting to know more about the mystery and magic of psychotherapy, initially training in co-counselling, a revolutionary way of listening, and finally bringing me to you at this stage of my life as an experienced psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with a life long interest in understanding how we recover from emotional pain, distress and trauma.
I have worked in this field for 20 years in the third sector, in the NHS, and privately in various roles. My work, research and teaching has taken me across the globe, looking to deepen my understanding, and supporting others to do the same. Most recently I have expanded my work to developing capacity in humanitarian contexts, providing front line aid workers with additional training and skills working in post disaster environments, and supporting the development of NGOs in trauma-informed practice. I was formerly a Teaching Fellow at The University of Edinburgh, training new counsellors and psychotherapists there.
You are invited to join me in, what I hope will be, new and re-invigorating ways of deepening your knowledge, understanding and practice.
