Children Heard and Seen
Children Heard and Seen (Charity no. 1157879)
Supporting children and families impacted by parental imprisonment.
Every year, thousands of children in the UK experience the imprisonment of a parent — often in silence, facing stigma, confusion, and isolation. Children Heard and Seen exists to make sure no child has to go through this alone.
We are committed to listening to children and families, addressing their needs, and ensuring their voices are heard. Our support includes:
Direct support for children and young people
Tailored 1:1 sessions, mentoring, and group activities that help children build confidence, friendships, and resilience.
Support for parents and carers
Guidance, peer support groups, and resources to help families navigate the challenges of parental imprisonment.
Residentials and activity days
Fun, inclusive opportunities for children and families to connect, build friendships, and make positive memories together.
Legal Clinic
Free advice on family law matters, including child contact and parental rights.
Economic Wellbeing Clinic
Specialist guidance on benefits, debt, and financial resilience.
Specialist Support Groups
Focused programmes on domestic abuse, sexual offences, trauma recovery, and parenting.
Awareness, training and resources
Helping schools, professionals, and communities create environments that understand and support children with a parent in prison, with access to tailored training and practical resources.
Campaigns and advocacy
Amplifying children’s voices to challenge stigma and influence change — including the National Awareness Day for Children with a Parent in Prison (25th November).
We listen to children’s voices, honour their experiences, and empower them to thrive — turning silence and stigma into strength, hope, and opportunity.
