Learning Services ltd, Andrew Salisbury
Learning Services Ltd has a mission to bridge the divide between skills based, behavioural approaches and the wonder of learning for life. We approach learning from both the explicit and direct instruction of a new skill, through to the development of agency in applying new and creative ways to engage with the world. Learning is not *just* constructed, nor is it *just* delivered, learning is the interplay between person-on-a-mission and the world they are living in.
Andrew Salisbury, MEdPsych, BA, PGDipSpcTeach, is Director of Professional Learning and currently the main presenter and facilitator of a series of workshops and interactive teaching sessions designed to engage private tutors in the process of shifting their tutoring from scope and sequence to agentic generative instruction.
A second series of workshops takes tutors through a self-reflective process of aligning their values with their practice. Through applying knowledge from Acceptance Committment Therapy tutors are supported to create their own vision and mission for their tutoring business . From this core set of values, an action plan gets developed collaboratively. This plan is then implemented with Andrew as mentor/coach.
A third series of workshops are offered to High School English teachers on the challenges of developing comprehension in year 9 and 10 students. These workshops use knowledge gained through the area of experimental psychology known as Relational Frame Theory. Andrew will take you through a process of engaging students with a set of core relational frames that will shift their thinking and rapidly increase their comprehension of oral and written language.
