Long Island Roller Rebels
Founded in 2005, the Long Island Roller Rebels are proud to be Long Island’s first flat-track roller derby league, now approaching 20 incredible years. As a member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), we compete as part of a global community of over 360 leagues. Our mission is to promote, educate, and foster participation in the sport of flat-track roller derby through local and travel competitions, while also giving back to our Long Island community. Our league is more than just skating—it's a community.
- We are supported by a dedicated team of referees, non-skating officials (NSOs), and volunteers who ensure every game runs smoothly. From tracking scores and managing the penalty box to officiating gameplay and announcing, these individuals keep the heart of derby beating.
- The Long Island Roller Rebels is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit run entirely by its skaters and non-skating volunteers.
- Elected officers manage day-to-day operations, long-term planning is overseen by a board of directors, and specialized committees are led by members chosen through formal votes.
- Our funding comes from skater dues, fundraising events, and ticket sales.
