Lucia Sarmiento Verano

Lucia Sarmiento Verano is a humanistic therapist working in Oxfordshire and Online. She has worked in anti-racist training and consultancy for organisations in the UK, practices anti-oppressive intercultural therapy, and applies decolonial thought to clinical practice. She holds a Sociology degree from the University of Poitiers, an MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute in London, and is currently a Ph.D. student in Psychosocial Studies at the Birkbeck University.

Lucia is particularly interested in exploring coloniality and eurocentrism in psychological and social thought. When it comes to clinical practice, she is interested in considering the social and cultural context in practice and addressing issues of power in the therapeutic relationship through developing an anti-oppressive approach.
