NZ Alpine Club - South Canterbury Section
Established in 1891 the New Zealand Alpine Club (NZAC) exists to encourage mountaineering, rock climbing and allied activities, the enjoyment and conservation of mountain regions; and to bring together those interested in climbing. The club has over 4500+ members throughout NZ and overseas and membership is open to all.
The Club provides instruction, events and a hut network, to name only a few of the benefits, for members who are active in mountaineering, rock climbing, bouldering and backcountry skiing in New Zealand and overseas. The club seeks to protect the interests and safety of climbers and this is accomplished via access and advocacy, education and instruction on safe participation of activities in alpine environments, and various projects such as crag repair and pest management.
