Opeloge Ah Sam

Opeloge Ah Sam is based in the beautiful Far North, NZ where he is currently a Dean and teacher of Music, Junior Art, Junior Photography and Junior Dance at Kaitaia College.

He has worked as a conductor and music director with the Auckland Wind Orchestra, The Manukau Symphony, The Masque Vocal Ensemble, NZ Symphony Orchestra, Coca Cola Christmas in the Park choirs & has written many commissioned works as a freelance composer. Other professional experiences include being a judge at the ASB Polyfest, Vodafone Pacific NZ Music Awards and has performed as a pianist for HRH Highness Princess Anne and HRH Tupua Tamasese. Opeloge has also been a CreativeNZ Artist-in-Residence and current Research Fellow with the University of Victoria, Wellington.

Dr. Opeloge Ah Sam completed a PhD in Music Composition from the University of Victoria, Wellington which looked at how the music we compose, perform and express are a representation of our cultural Identities. Opeloge is married to Margot and they have 3 children Carolena, Noah & Opeloge Jnr as well as 2 beautiful dogs Febe & Frappe.
