Pasture Summit
Pasture Summit is a not-for-profit group that was established in 2017 by a group of progressive and committed farm business owners and dairy sector experts from across New Zealand and Ireland. Our mission is to secure the future of pastoral dairy food production, and vibrant and sustainable farming communities.
Pasture Summit events and activities are organised and run by farmers, for farmers with the objective of bringing together a positive and vibrant community of farmers, to secure a profitable future, for this and the next generation of dairy farmers and our dairy stakeholders.
In November 2018, Pasture Summit conferences were held in both the North Island (Hamilton) and South Island (Ashburton) which were the first events of their kind in New Zealand with an ongoing connection to an international network.
These were followed up in 2019 by two field days, hosted by farmers with technical input from dairy sector specialists, sharing ideas and developments on achieving profitable food production from grass.
During the Covid-19 restrictions, we enhanced our digital engagement offering and produced a series of informational videos on relevant and topical themes for the dairy sector.
In 2021, Pasture Summit NZ & Ireland organised a joint forum on the topical and relevant theme of “Pasture Fed Dairy & Water Quality – Is pasture still the way forward?”. The forum was hosted as a hybrid event which attracted a large audience of in-person and online attendees.
This year, Pasture Summit is back on farm and hosting some exciting field days in Taranaki and Southland in Spring 2022.
