Prairie View A&M Cooperative Extension Program

The Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) Cooperative Extension Program (CEP) Family and Community Health (FCH) unit has a mission to respond to the needs of underserved Texans through learning opportunities that empower families, promote agriculture, strengthen communities, and foster leadership development in youth.

More specifically for the Family and Community Health program area, their mission is to address health disparities and food insecurities by promoting health, wellness, and nutrition to limited-resource communities in the Greater Houston area, ultimately encouraging healthy, long-term lifestyle changes and behaviors. They aim to improve public health outcomes, reduce chronic disease rates, improve mental health, and increase life expectancy through research-based educational initiatives.
