Triangle Park Community Teaching Garden Charitable Trust

About Us

As a grassroots organisation lead by local people, we have evolved to adopt the principles of this Māori whakatauakī-proverb: “Nā tō rourou, nā taku rourou, ka ora ai te iwi - with your food basket and my food basket the people will thrive”.  Overtime, we've adapted this as a way of working, where collaboration is at the heart of the programme.  What started as a simple shared community garden, now flourishes as somewhere people come to connect, share knowledge, and to grow and harvest food.  Connecting our community is fundamental to this organisation’s values and vision for the future of the garden.  Our education methods follow a Learning-by-Doing way.  It is our desire to educate and coordinate enough families and individuals that it will have a positive impact on the overall wellbeing, and where the skills and knowledge of organic gardening principles have transferred to those in the community who desire these self-sustaining practices.  One of our fundamental beliefs is that education comes in many forms, and everyone can be involved in teaching and learning simultaneously. The term ‘Ako’ represents our way of educating at the Triangle Park Garden, where indeed everyone can be a teacher, and everyone can be a learner, and with our collective knowledge, all people will indeed thrive.
