Women in Urbanism Aotearoa
Creating more beautiful and equitable urban environments by amplifying the voices of all wāhine womxn. Women in Urbanism Aotearoa is working to provide an intersectional feminist platform for women from all backgrounds to share their insights on how cities could be better for everyone. The historical gender imbalance in the fields that shape cities have led to poor urban outcomes such as inadequate street lighting, missing pram ramps and infrequent public transport outside of commuting hours. These issues disproportionately affect women and the most vulnerable members of our society. By increasing women’s participation and leadership in the decision-making processes of urban development and governance, we can work to address these concerns and create a more inclusive, accessible and equitable city.
