Postpone and reschedule your event

If you need to change your event date, review Eventbrite’s Postponed Event Policy before making any changes. Once you’ve decided to reschedule your event, please make sure to change your event status, edit your event date, and email your attendees. If you’re not sure about the future of your event, it’s best to cancel the event instead.

Before you start

Postpone your event

1. Set the event status to Postponed.

If you still have tickets available, changing your event status will stop sales:

  1. Go to your event dashboard and select On Sale. (Depending on your current sales status, this button may also say: At the door, Sales ended, Sold out, or Postponed.)

  2. Select Change status, then Postponed.

  3. Select Take off sale

This will pause ticket sales online, and potential ticket buyers will see the “postponed” status on the event page.

2. Set the event date in the future and hide it from your event listing.

You have 90 days to add the new event date. If you don’t have a new date yet, choose a temporary date in the future—this will keep your event from ending and allow you to set the new date once it's confirmed:

  1. Go to Basic Info.

  2. Under “Date and Time”, choose a temporary date in the future.

  3. Uncheck “Display start time” and “Display end time” to hide the date, then select Save.

3. Email your attendees.

After you change the date, email your registered attendees to communicate the following:

  • The details of the event change, including when you plan to announce a new date

  • How they can request a refund.

  • Who they should contact for questions

Double check the reply-to email: make sure replies go to a valid email address that’s checked regularly.

4. Set and communicate the new event date within 90 days of postponement.

If you’re not sure about the future of your event, cancel the event instead.

5. Respond to refund requests.

Respond to all attendee refund requests within five business days and in accordance with Eventbrite’s Postponed Event Policy

Reschedule your event

1. Enter the new date.

Change the date of your event. If the event date has already passed, you can’t change the date. Contact us if this happens.

2. Put your tickets back on sale.

If you intend to sell more tickets, create a new ticket type or update the sales date on an existing ticket type. This will automatically remove the "Postponed" status from your event.

NOTE: Creating a new ticket type or updating an existing ticket type is the only way to remove the "Postponed" status from your event. If you don’t want to sell more tickets, update the total capacity to match the number of tickets you've already sold.

3. Email your attendees.

Email your registered attendees with the new date and any other event updates.

4.  Respond to refund requests

Respond to all attendee refund requests within five business days and in accordance with Eventbrite’s Postponed Event Policy

Issuing refunds for postponed and rescheduled events

When you postpone an event, you have 90 days to set and communicate a new date. If you announce a new date within this time period, you may issue refunds at your discretion. If you don’t announce the new event date within 90 days after postponing the event, you are required to issue refunds upon attendee request for the next 45 days and until a new date has been selected and communicated. Be sure to respond to all attendee refund requests within five business days, as outlined in Eventbrite’s Organizer Refund Policy Requirements. Responding to refund requests in a timely manner promotes attendee trust and decreases your chargeback risk.

Payouts for rescheduled events

When you postpone an event, Eventbrite automatically holds the payout so you can easily issue refunds.

If you successfully completed your event but haven’t received your payout within the standard timeline, submit a payout request
