Description

What is a 3D printer?

3D printers are rapid prototyping machines that create physical objects by laying down many thin successive layers of material. It is an example of additive manufacturing.

What can you do with it?

A 3D printer can be used for prototyping of items and other projects. 3D printers can print in a variety of different colours to match the needs of the user. Many items can be made with these machines, with some examples including: cases and boxes, puzzles and toys, phone and camera mounts, and many other models. With 3D printing, the only limits are the imagination and modelling skill of the user.

How to get started:

Only those who have gained access to the Create and Maker Space can attend training sessions. If you haven't already, get involved today! Once a you have access, complete our 3D printer training session, download the inspire guide and then you're all set to use it during scheduled studio time. We also have Creative Technologists who are there to help you and regular workshops to inspire you to create what you imagine!

Please note that all Create Space sessions and events are only open to current University of Auckland staff and students.
