Description

If the workshop you are interested in attending is fully booked, please email contact@abetterstart.nz and we will let you know if a place becomes available.

A Better Start is the National Science Challenge with a 10-year mission to champion the research required to give our children the best possible start in life. The first five years concludes in June, 2019. We now need to prepare a plan to guide research for the five years to June, 2024.

As part of the work to develop our plan, we are hosting regional workshops in Wellington, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Auckland. We're hosting the workshops to listen to what the science community, key policy makers and advisers and community representatives, especially from the Māori and Pasifika communities, have to say about future research directions and priorities. Our priority research themes are Healthy Weight, Resilient Teens, Successful Learning and Big Data. While the priority research themes will continue, we want to broaden the range of perspectives and partners who can work with us to enhance the focus, translation and impact of the research. A Better Start will run further contestable funding round(s).Your views may shape the nature and scope of future rounds. Our focus is on science making a positive difference for our children.

Please register for a workshop near you. A little nearer the time, we will send you a reminder along with more information.
