About this event

What?

On Friday 20 May 2022 from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Whanganui’s premier event venue the War Memorial Centre will host

Whanganui Agritech 2022’, an expo style event with keynote speakers over a provided lunch.

This event aims to bring New Zealand companies working in the Agritech space together with farmers, growers and agricultural.

businesses and leaders. We also want to help to inspire our next regional tech or agricultural heroes. It provides a collaborative opportunity for innovators and industry leaders to show their products and hear about the local reality and barriers they face to taking up technology. As part of TechWeek 2022, the event also benefits from national exposure in the digital space.

With the Central Field Days cancelled for 2022, this event with a regional feel and short turn around intends to provide certainty to all attendees and event partners within current COVID-19 restrictions that the event will go ahead and provide value add to everyone that commits to the day. Our hope is this event is not a one-off, but a basis for an annual agritech event for our region.

Why Whanganui?

This event is a great opportunity to reach a city and wider rural market that often misses out due to its much bigger neighbours for showcases and events. It allows you to engage directly with true regional Aotearoa and maximise exposure to a fresh audience in a more intimate and local setting. Whanganui & Partners, our economic development agency, is committed to strategic development and dedicated support for growth of agribusiness while the Whanganui District Council leading 2019 Digital Strategy encourages tech and innovation across the entire community. Whanganui is the perfect place to showcase your products and technology to inspire your next client or regional partner.

In 2021, Whanganui has seen population growth of 1%, above both the wider region (0.8%) and Aotearoa (0.6%). Agribusiness is our second largest contributor at 8.1% of our total GBP with $171.7m in 2021*. Farming, horticulture and apiary all contribute to Whanganui’s agricultural sector.

Whanganui is in an exciting place and you could be part of its bright future.
