Cultural Diversity Awareness Month – March 2021

Speakers: Saima Hussain Anis, Song Lam
Join us at Tauranga Library to hear about two women’s immigrant stories: the challenges, the learnings and the celebrations.
In celebration of Cultural Diversity Awareness Month, Saima Hussain Anis and Song Lam will be talking about their personal experiences and sharing a unique perspective of embracing their own voice and diversity living in New Zealand.
There will be Q&A time with the speakers and refreshments afterwards.
Speaker Bios:
Song Lam is a published author and a former teacher who has embraced Māori culture, studying at University and writing of her experiences blending her Chinese culture that of her adopted country, New Zealand. She’s passionate about education and started a voluntary group helping new immigrants with their English. Her services to the community were nationally recognised with a Queen's Service Medal in 2006.
Saima Hussain Anis is a Muslim Kiwi and a global citizen who loves to share her story about learning through four generations of peace, strife and tolerance. She believes each of us holds the key to changing mindsets and that we can use Christchurch terror attack to rise above tragedy, sharing healing and peace.
