Event description
Free Mindful Yoga as a thank you to our Community and Emergency Service staff, for all your hard work and dedication to the community.

About this Event

Wakatipu Youth Trust are collaborating with Healthy Self Yoga to offer FREE mindful yoga practices to Support Services and Emergency Service Staff. Due to recent circumstances and the high demand for supporting our local community, it is time to give back to those who have made a difference over the past few months. Join us as we support mental health and well-being through mind, body and soul with a mix of Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin & Restorative Yoga over the next weeks.

Please contact Mairead at mairead@wakatipuyouthtrust.co.nz for more information.

Below are the descriptions of the different types of Yoga available. Morning sessions will be a Hatha or Vinyasa Flow and evening sessions will be Yin and Restorative Yoga.

Hatha:

Finding the force and power within, through a strong standing series to cultivate a deeper understanding of resilience, focus and strength beyond the physical. Hatha yoga is the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises) which help bring more peace to the mind and body. Our hatha classes are led at a comfortable and mindful pace, allowing you more time and space to connect with your body and breath.

Suitable for those looking to engage the body with slow mindful movement.

Vinyasa flow:

Allowing time and space to connect through a dynamic offering, increasing energy & vitality.

Feel a sense of fluid physical motion through accessible class themes and focus. Movement through these postures are matched with the breath, creating a sense of flow, strength, ease and tension release.

Yin:

Explore the ways in which yin may hold the key to deeper relaxation and spaciousness within your body, mind and breath.

Yin is a slow-paced style of yoga with more passive floor-based poses that are held for longer periods of time; about 3 to 5 minutes, or maybe more. The practice targets the connective tissues, such as ligaments, bones, and joints of the body.

Restorative:

Restorative yoga enables deep relaxation as you’re holding poses for longer periods of time with the help of props to completely support you.

The main focus of Restorative Yoga is that by relaxing in poses, with the aid of props, without strain or pain, we can achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Restorative yoga classes are very relaxing and slow paced.

Time for some self care.

We look forward to seeing you all,

Wakatipu Youth Trust & Healthy Self Yoga.
