Better Group Decision-Making for Boards

About this Event

GOVERNANCE BITES are a series of free after-five events offering practical development opportunities in bite-sized pieces for 'time poor' and cash-strapped community leaders involved in non-profit boards in Canterbury, served up with pizza.

This session will cover 'Better Group Decision-Making for Boards'.

Non-profit boards only have authority as a group. What’s the different dynamics between individual and group decision-making? And what key difference in approach is required when making routine decisions, and when looking to innovate to at least ensure we know what all the options are (beyond the same old-same old)? How can understanding the three key ‘mindsets’ that people can bring to governance decision-making help us make better decisions, and help us ensure we are asking the right questions. This session will provide participants with two useful tools that will help you in making better group decisions.

These sessions are led by Garth Nowland-foreman, an experienced trainer and facilitator, and non-profit governance expert. Garth is a director of LEAD Centre for Not for Profit Governance and Leadership www.lead.og.nz.

Please note: While the Governance Bites workshops run as a series, each session can be attended as a standalone workshop if desired. Please register for each session you are interested in via the Volunteering Canterbury listings.
