How long is the walk?

The distance is approximately 800 metres return, and we will take it slow to look at the life in the forest and stream as we go. Expect the walk to take approximately one hour.

Is it a difficult walk?

The walk is not long but will sometimes be across uneven ground and unformed tracks. There is a small flight of steps and some areas with sloping ground (optional). Participants will need to be able to walk 800m. Supervised children are very welcome!

Camp Sladdin is located in a public park, gates of which close between 7 and 8pm. You will need to park on the road outside the reserve, and walk in to the public park

Taitaia Stream Guided Evening Walk and Eel Information Evening

Join us for an evening torch lit walk of your local Taitaia Stream that flows through Clevedon Scenic Reserve. We should see native fish and eels that come alive at night, plus freshwater bugs, and who knows - maybe wētā, beautiful autumn fungi, ruru (morepork)

Hear from Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust about the importance of eels in our streams, as well as amazing facts about their lifecycle through fun, family friendly eel activities.

Enjoy a hot cuppa and biscuits afterwards (extra bikkies if you BYO cup :)

Bring a torch, closed shoes and warm clothes. Participants will need to be able to walk 800m across uneven ground with unformed track in places, and manage stairs/ slopes.
