About this event

The Greater Bay Area is located in southern China within the region where the Pearl River meets the South China Sea. The area consists of nine cities in mainland China together with the Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions.

With a land area of some 56,000km2 and a population of around 72,000,000 the GDP stands at USD1.68 trillion. That GDP number approximates to that of Australia (USD1.4 trillion) or South Korea (USD1.6 trillion) – and it’s not standing still!

Development of the GBA is a core strategy of China’s development programme and aims to leverage the key strengths of each city in the region.

This online seminar will introduce the GBA and examine its core attributes with a focus on opportunities for New Zealand business.

The overview section will cover topics, including: concept of GBA; economic size; principles and policy underpinning the development, geographical outline; city development; technology developments; industry sectors; population status; foreign investment; and more.

Guest speakers include leaders from Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau, and InvestHK Hong Kong SAR Government.

Seminar will be moderated by David Whitwam, Chairman from New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
