The Hour of Code™ is a worldwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming.
This is for anyone aged 6+, children under 13 must be with a parent or guardian at all time.
Organised in Tauranga by local volunteers with a passion for tech and computing, this free event, running 11am till 6pm on Thursday 8th December is supported by Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology, Venture Centre and Basestation

- School teachers: bring your classes to do an Hour of Code™ select a session (11am-1pm or 1pm-3pm), let us know how many children are coming Want to come for two sessions and capitalise on the opportunity to learn cool stuff with dedicated volunteers and resources? You can too!
- Parents and whanau: bring your children to do an Hour of Code™ at any of the three sessions (11am-1pm, 1pm- 3pm, 4pm-6pm)
- People who work in or with IT and can code: Volunteer and support participants get introduced to Computer Science! There are ready-made 1 hour fun and engaging tutorials for you to use and walk participants through the basics. Hour of Code needs your passion to share the love and make it accessible to all!
