We invite you to the Fale Pasifika at the Te Whare Wānanga o Tāmaki Makaurau/University of Auckland on 6 December 2017 from 10AM-3PM to engage in a workshop entitled “Kindness in Science: Better Outcomes, Better Science”.
As a working definition, Kindness in Science is an inclusive approach where scientists prioritise diversity and foster support, respect, well-being, and openness within an intergenerational framework that leads to long-lasting collaborations and retention of diverse researchers.
We envision an Aotearoa New Zealand-based collective of people within science leading a culture shift that embeds kindness in the way that scientists work, and science is conducted.
Our intent for this one-day, invitation-only workshop is to bring together a diverse group of people, their perspectives and lived experiences to kickstart the Kindness in Science Collective, starting locally within Aotearoa and scaling globally.
Drawing on rich theory and history of kindness and kind acts/practices across varied science sectors, we will explore and define new ways of measuring outcomes for science, co-create a Kindness in Science toolbox, and produce outputs (i.e., scientific publications) for wider dissemination.
If you are able to participate in the workshop, please register via EventBrite by 1 November 2017. If you need travel assistance, please let us know and we will attempt to accommodate.
