LinC Activator #4: Facilitation as a Practice
Event Information
About this event
For our last LinC Activator of 2019, we’re thrilled to announce our venue is the new Riverside Market! Join us as we delve into the mysterious world of facilitation, and what it takes to be a facilitation practitioner. Most social innovation and community development mahi involves bringing people together around a particular kaupapa, issue, challenge or opportunity.
What is facilitation? How do you do it well? Why does it make a difference?
This will be a fun and interactive evening and a great opportunity to learn some practical facilitation skills. You will be working with two great facilitators. Please come early (from 5.30pm) for drinks and nibbles, and be ready for the workshops starting at 6pm sharp!

Meet our guest facilitators:
Natasha Zimmerman is the founder and creative force behind Unchatter, an organisation focused on bringing meaningful connection to the world with thoughtfully curated experiences. She creates spaces where small talk is banned, a set of intentional “party principles” are laid out, and an array of deep question cards get people beneath the surface and into the good stuff.
Natasha is originally from the US, where she was a healthcare executive before coming to New Zealand to pursue her PhD in Psychology at the University of Canterbury. Her current research is centered on belonging and connection in organisations, and she loves finding the juicy intersection of science, humanism, and practical application. Natasha’s driving force is helping every human see how much they matter, and she is lit up by working with organisations and individuals to cultivate meaning in work and in everyday life.
Pete Cammock is the Co-Director of Leadership Lab and a Senior Fellow at the University of Canterbury where he formerly worked as Director of Executive Development. His consulting experience spans over twenty-five years and includes facilitation, coaching, advisory and development roles with numerous private and public sector organisations and a wide range of NGO, local government and community leaders. He has been involved in executive coaching for over fifteen years and during this time has worked directly with over a hundred CEO’s, GM’s and senior managers.
Pete has been described by NZ Management Magazine as “one of the nation’s best leadership writers” and is the author of two books, "The Dance of Leadership" (2001, 2003) and "The Spirit of Leadership" (2008, 2009, 2013) and a number of international publications. Peter has a strong interest in the personal foundations of mindfulness, positivity and meaning that that underlie effective organisational leadership. He has pursued these interests over the last few years as he has travelled extensively with his wife Liz in Nepal, India and SE Asia.
