Public Lecture
University of Waikato Associate Professior Ngairo Eruera (Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Awa) will present a 1 hour lecture Matariki and Beyond.
Knowing what we know now about Matariki and this significant event, what makes it even more special is its inclusivity to other seasons and changes. Matariki is a unique time, made even more special by it’s annual connections.
Ngairo has recently started his PhD at the University of Waikato and is looking forward to undertaking meaningful research into the local history of whānau Māori. His work will explore ancestral trails, the cultural narratives of these ancestors and their descendants, and how we celebrate these historical figures as part of the fabric of our communal lives.
Please join us for this very special lecture.
