Recreation Aotearoa Wellington Region Professional Development Event
Date and time
Pita Noanoa and Ness Mill of Tū Mātau Ora will be delivering a session around traditional Māori games and activities.
About this event
We have an exciting professional development opportunity available for you! On Thursday 9th of June from 2 – 4.30 pm Pita Noanoa and Ness Mill of Tū Mātau Ora will be delivering a session around traditional Māori games and activities for Recreation Aotearoa Members and anyone else working the play, active recreation and sport sector in the Wellington Region.
If the weather is fine, the event will be held at the newly redeveloped Pukehuia Park in Newlands, which includes the world’s first purpose built Ki o Rahi Turf! Check out this new story from the opening in July last year for more information. https://wellington.govt.nz/news-and-events/news-and-information/our-wellington/2021/07/pukehuia-park-opening
If the weather isn’t good (this is Wellington right…) the event will be at the ASB Sports Centre. We will let attendees know in advance if we need to move to the ASB Sports Centre.
This is a great opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the region, learn more about play, active recreation and sport from a Te Ao Māori perspective, check out an awesome new park – and have FUN!
More information about traditional Māori games and activities can be found here -https://www.nukuora.org.nz/news/taonga-takaro-tuku-iho-play-the-maori-way/.
There will be drinks and snacks after at 1841 in Johnsonville http://www.1841.co.nz/ and we’d love to see you there for wider korero.
Please be sure to register by 5pm on Monday 6th of June. We look forward to seeing you there!
