About this Event
Join us at the Rocky Shore these holidays investigating rock pools and discovering the amazing animals that live there.
Find crabs, starfish, sea snails and much more, then safely bring your favourites up to our mobile lab to study them closer before returning them to the ocean.
You will be able to use digital microscopes and app based research technology to link in with international researchers and become a citizen scientist yourself.
Children will be fully supervised for the duration of the programme.
This holiday programme is for ages 8 - 13.
Location Spriggs Park on Hardinge Road, Ahuriri – look for the National Aquarium flags.
A snack will be provided.
What to bring
- Water shoes or an old pair of covered shoes you don’t mind getting wet
- Warm jersey and a raincoat
- Sunhat
- A change of clothes in case you get wet and dry shoes and socks.
- A drink (we will provide snacks but you are welcome to bring your own as well)
- Friends of the Aquarium bookings must bring their membership card on the day to validate discounts.
Terms and conditions
Your young scientists will need to be:
- Able to maneuver around the rocky shore environment unaided
- Willing to take part in individual and group activities
- Have a positive can-do attitude
- Aged between 8 and 13
- Enthusiastic about learning about the environment and ways we can protect it.
- Purchase of tickets indicates acceptance of these terms.
