Learn about how nutrition, mental health and pelvic floor care can support you during the precious fourth trimester.

About this event

Jacinta is a Psychotherapist and Counsellor with more than 12 years of experience who is passionate about people and restoring a sense of wellbeing within individuals she works with.

Jacinta is excited to offer mothers support through the Fourth Trimester event as she believes that this stage is often overlooked in the pregnancy and birth journey but is so important to mother and bub’s wellbeing.

Many of her clients are mothers navigating the fourth trimester – managing feelings of overwhelm, fatigue, loss, fear, isolation, loneliness, pain, birth trauma, body image issues, shame, grief, social media and adjustment in career, finances, relationships mixed with the joy of meeting their new little one. Further, when we have a baby, we often have new insights and access to feelings about how we were parented and our own attachment histories that need to be managed with care. She also knows this stage from a very personal viewpoint, within the midst of new motherhood and felt many emotions as a Mum of twins and later a single baby.

Her session will focus on:

- The difference between parenting and parenthood

- The needs of self-versus needs of the baby

Women’s Health Physiotherapist Grace is your go to lady for all things abdominal, pelvic floor and overall muscle and joint recovery during the fourth trimester. She is incredibly passionate about helping women of all ages to restore their pelvic health and to live a pain free and active lifestyle, with confidence!

Grace feels that the level of high-quality postnatal advice and education for women in NZ could be improved and is on a mission to do just that.

As part of this event, she hopes to expand your knowledge around common conditions that can present after labour including:

- Incontinence of the bladder and bowel

- Prolapse, painful intercourse and abdominal separation

She will also educate you on:

- The role of the pelvic floor muscles, how to activate these in the best way

- How to return to exercise safely after having a baby.

Sara is a Women’s Health Dietitian and founder of Your Monthly. She is passionate about supporting women to understand how nutrition and lifestyle factors influence their hormonal health and encourages women to learn more about how their cycles can work for them, not against them.

During the Fourth Trimester event Sara will aim to teach the mother to be (and new mother) about:

- The hormonal changes post birth

- Key nutrients for maternal health in the Fourth Trimester

- Nutrition for breastfeeding

- Nourishing your body post delivery
