Torbay Snorkel Day

Established in 2002 in Northland,Mountains to Seasees education as a vital part of society and central to all environmental restoration. Our marine and freshwater programmes involve young people, their parents and the wider community. The Experiencing Marine Reserves (EMR) and Whitebait Connection (WBC) programmes reinforce simple concepts such as the uniqueness of our freshwater and marine biodiversity and provide an active focus on conservation of these environments through education and action.

Waiake Beach

Come join us and explore the wonders of Torbay reef, you never know what you might spot! This event is funded by the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board, Auckland Unlimited and The Bobby Stafford-Bush Foundation. When: Sunday 23rd of January 2022 - Back up Saturday the 5th March 202210am - 3pm Rotation 1: 10am - 11.30am Rotation 2: 11.30am - 1.00pmRotation 3: 1.00pm - 2.30pm Registrations essential Where: Bottom of Rock Isle Road, Little Waiake Beach, Torbay Bring your own gear or get free hire of our mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuits. Recommended for everyone 5 years and up. All children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult beach observer. Experienced guides and advanced safety procedures will be in place on the day.Experiencing Marine Reserves runs a series of free and subsidised events over the summer months - we rely on your support to make them happen. We appreciate donations, either cash/eftpos on the day, online or by giving a koha of your time volunteering at a future event. COVID informationWe can't wait to reconnect with you all and to help you explore our big blue backyard. EMR has always strived to be as inclusive as possible with all our events, however we are in unprecedented times, which means the safety of our crew, volunteers and participants is paramount. Vaccination certificates for all those ages 12 and over will be required for all* public events in the COVID Traffic Light framework for the summer of 2021/22 (*unless specified otherwise). Participants under 12 years of age will need to be accompanied by a fully vaccinated parent or guardian. All participants will need to use face coverings and distance where practical. Please bring the QR code for <a href="https://covid19.govt.nz/covid-19-vaccines/covid-19-vaccination-certificates/my-vaccine-pass/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">My Vaccine Pass</a> on your phone or printed to be scanned &amp; verified on the event. You will need to bring photo ID. Some events may require your vaccination status to be verified prior to registration.
