About this event

Welcome to Trauma Informed Yoga!

Join us for a transformative online experience where we explore the healing power of yoga through a trauma-informed lens. Our skilled instructors will guide you through gentle movements and breathing exercises designed to help you reconnect with your body in a safe and supportive environment.

10-Week Program Themes:

Our 10-week program is thoughtfully designed based on the eight limbs of Emotional Yoga by Bija Bennett. Intention:

Establishing safety and reconnecting with oneself.

Neurophysiology & Neurobiology of Trauma: Learning how trauma impacts the body and mind.

Safety: Practicing feeling safe and strong, building safety jars.

Self-Care: Decreasing feelings of stress and overwhelm through self-care practices.

Boundaries: Recognizing choices, practicing assertiveness, and honoring personal needs.

Assertiveness: Communicating needs effectively.

Strength: Building mindfulness and strength for managing triggers.

Trust: Connecting with community and cultivating trust in oneself.

Acceptance & Self-Love: Connecting with energy and turning to wholeness.

Self-Compassion: Increasing self-compassion and care practices.

Why This Group? Theoretical Foundations and Evidence Following incidents of sexual trauma, survivors frequently concentrate their energy on suppressing the inner chaos that ensues, which significantly detracts from their ability to engage spontaneously in their lives.

This effort to regain control over overwhelming physiological reactions can manifest in a multitude of physical symptoms.

*Trauma-Informed Approach: Recognizes the impact of trauma on the body and mind. *Mind-Body Connection: Acknowledges the link between physical sensations and emotional well being. *Empowerment: Provides survivors with choices and control over their healing journey
