About this Event

In order to capture the eyeballs of audiences, an artist requires arresting filmed content. Traditional short form music videos are increasingly being taken over by trailers, interstitials and other filmed content. Our Q&A session will discuss the plethora of platforms and formats required, how to plan out a video & marketing campaign and how to deliver that. Our industry guests represent different facets of the process, and the discussion will be moderated by NZ On Air’s Head of Music, David Ridler.

Thom Watts

Thom is best known as the guitarist for Tui-winning rock act Villainy. He is also an award-winning TV producer and radio producer, and associate producer for THREE’s 7 Days.

Swap Gomez

Swap is the drummer for Yoko-Zuna and an independent film director/editor, with a documentary deal with Netflix. He has collaborated musically and visually with the likes of P-Money, Melodownz, Jess B and Bailey Wiley.

Anna Loveys

Anna runs Auckland-based PR, publicity and marketing company Saint Lachine, which works with many indie record labels and artists. As a publicist, she has worked across a range of campaigns for artists including Estère, Aldous Harding, Mermaidens, CHAII, Louis Baker, Tami Neilson, Purple Pilgrims, The Others Way Festival and more.

The Music Filmmaker Series is part of the Recorded Music NZ Tui Music Series 2019. The Series supports the Artisan Awards creative fields of music production, design and film making. Go to nzmusicawards.co.nz/tui-music-series for more information.

Recorded Music NZ gratefully acknowledges the support NZ On Air, SAE Creative Media Institute and Auckland Council / Auckland UNESCO City of Music.
