Please join us for a special Global Goals Institute panel discussion and online forum on “Ensuring full participation of migrant and ethnic women in post-COVID-19 responses and decision-making”.
This event is part of the virtual parallel event programme of the 65th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65). The panellists will consider how migrant and ethnic women hold knowledge, are resilient and offer actions needed to co-design a better post-pandemic world together.
During this innovative 60-minute panel exchange followed by a 30-minute interactive text dialogue, we will focus our discussion on how migrant and ethnic women can be better supported to accelerate progress on gender inequality across the three SDGs of gender equality (SDG 5), decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), and reduced inequalities (SDG 10) in the New Zealand context.
We will be joined by special guests:
● Saunoamaali’i Karanina Sumeo, Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner of the New Zealand Human Rights Commission
● Barbara Bedeschi-Lewando, Director of the Global Goals Institute
● Tofilau Bernadette Pereira, National President of Pacifica Inc.
● Marie-Claude Machon-Honoré, Representative of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee and the CCNGO/Education2030 coordinating group.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Hellen Swales, past-President of the New Zealand Federation of Business and Professional Women.
We encourage your participation to help us uncover ways to drive more progress at scale on this social justice issue. Women are not only the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, but they are also the backbone of recovery and the key to a better future.
We have a mere decade left to make sweeping systemic changes in the lives of women and girls. Please join us!
