UP-CYCLING (FASHION) WITH NICOLE WESSELING

This workshop will be taken by former designer of menswear label French83, Nicole Wesseling who is now working as Production Manager for Ingrid Starnes. Nicole will take the students through the challenge of creating a new fabric accessory while up-cycling pre-own garments. This workshop is a great presentation to sustainable fashion. This workshop touches on the issue consumerism in the fashion industry and explores creative ways to eliminate waste going to landfill.
With Nicole’s guidance, students will develop and design an innovative and commercially viable accessory for either men or women. Students will work with their own pre-loved garments (or garments from op-shops) and up-cycle them into a new accessory of their choice. The design and final product should comprise of 90% of the pre-loved clothing. Students may use additional purchased notions (zips, buttons and fusing).
Be creative and think about fabric weights, textures and tones you like to work with.

Note from the Tutor:
Time is limited so it would be great to have some ideas of what you’d like to do (as an accessory) before you attend the class. All equipment will be provided for pattern making, cutting and sewing – you just need to bring your own fabric, colour matching thread, zip and buttons if you want.

TWO DAY COURSE: SATURDAY 14 & SUNDAY 15 OCTOBER FROM 10AM TO 4.30PM.

Includes 1/2 hour lunch break - BYO
ENROLMENT NOW OPEN UNTIL 8 OCTOBER
