What do I need to bring?

Bring yourself, great creative energy and your interests. A photo of your recent adventures will be cool for the meetup. You will need to have cursor the a.i coding software installed as we will be using this (Co-Pilot is good too)

We will be using a mix of code & a.i tools like cursor. During the event we will explain the spec of what to make, we are looking for someone creative not someone hyper technical... So if you don't code but feel creative and have energy then come along!

Egg is a platform for creators, a community and online hub that is built on interaction rather than just consuming. We want to build a new kind of social media! Currently the platform is being used by youth around new zealand but we want to expand this out to help more people come be creative.

What if I don't want to be hired?

We recommend keeping an eye out for the platform & future creative challenges! This event is very specifically made for people who are ready to be hired and tackle this problem with us.

Overview

We are building this startup to battle against current social media and the attention farms of the internet, the role will be full time dev

Egg Academy is a startup founded in Christchurch, NZ by Kane Stewart & Juniper Taylor. We’re looking to hire a full-time developer to add some firepower as we launch our new social platform for creators.

Our mission is to counter today’s social media, ditch the ads, ditch the attention harvesting, and build something real. We've been full time at it for 4+ years validating the idea and are looking for an extra member to boost our pace of development as we prepare for scale.

This is a chance to build something together so we get a good sense for team-fit before continuing with the hiring process.

This will be a creative challenge: you’ll have 90 minutes to build something to spec, so bring your laptop. There’ll be pizza to keep the energy up.

If you haven’t done much dev work but have the drive to solve this problem, that’s okay. We’ve already built a lot, and much of the work will involve using AI tools, so anyone with the right mindset can jump in.

We’re using the T3 stack (React, Next.js, AWS, Vercel, MySQL, and Prisma). Prior experience is helpful, but not required.
