About this event

In this hands-on workshop, participants will transform upcycled drink cans into unique wearable pieces — bolo ties or sheriff badges — inspired by my current exhibition. Using accessible, low-tech techniques, you’ll explore design, embossing, and enamel painting to create a piece you can take home and wear with pride.

What You’ll Learn:

  • The cultural background and kaupapa behind bolo ties and sheriff badges.
  • How to design and plan a wearable artwork.
  • Techniques for prepping and embossing tin.
  • How to transfer a design to metal and finish it with enamel paint.
  • Simple methods to attach your design to a bolo tie or badge backing.

What’s Provided:All materials, including prepped tin from recycled drink cans, tools, paints, and bolo tie/badge fittings.

What to Bring:An open mind, a steady hand, and any personal imagery or patterns you’d like to incorporate into your design.

Who This Workshop is For:No experience necessary — perfect for beginners and those wanting to try creative metalwork in an accessible, fun way.
